Paradoxical Genius: Taylor Lashae

Taylor Lashae is woman with many tricks up her sleeve, or as she likes to describe herself: "a universe of unworldly paradoxes." After stumbling across her unique beauty through photographer, Colleen O'Brien's Instagram, I fell in love with her unique charm and beauty. Lashae has been featured in Luke LuCurcio short film, "Je T'adore", styled Juan Carlos De Leon's photo shoots, models and is a photographer herself. She immediately agreed to an interview, and graciously took time out of her visiting Houston, her hometown, to talk with me for about fashion, film and the future.

Tell us about your beginnings in the creative world. What/who influenced you to get into acting?

I actually started acting by accident! I had always been intrigued with the industry and worked as an agent for multiple modeling agencies in NYC. I was sent by a casting director to a music video audition, made it, had a great time, and became really great friends with the director who then casted me as a lead in his latest feature film and short films following! Ever since I have been so involved and in love with acting.

What keeps your intrigue in both the fashion and film worlds?

It’s the same as we people are intrigued with fine dining, or great cinema. It’s a certain taste people like to build their individuality through. I love how expressive this art is. In my case I get to mix the two and its better than a dream come true. It never gets old.

What type of setting causes you to get into a photo shoot whether you're photographing or modeling?
I love period pieces. Anything that brings me back to the past or shoot me 200 years into the future. A shoot that is based around a specific time.

You seem to have such a thirst for life and creation, and we can definitely see that you mix your individuality with many different undertones. What are your favorite things to do on your down time?https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif

To be honest, haha when I get a moment. I like to order pad Thai with my boy and watch films. All day long.  All types of movies. Preferably in a marathon manner ;)

I'm sure those movies find a way to inspire you while giving you a chance to relax. Is there anyone that would be a dream come true to work with?

Oh, there are so many amazing actors and actresses I would just love to work with. Matthew McConaughey would be a dream to just watch get into these characters like he does. He is brilliant. Would be outrageous to see in person. Another one I would love to work with is actress Brit Marling. I have seen her movies she has written and starred in and she is something special. A real genius talent.

Do you plan on writing your screenplays one day?
That’s a loaded question. I can totally see myself writing one day but not anytime soon!

You have my support! That would be great to see sometime down the line! What do you have panned for the near future?
I am shooting a T.V. pilot in the next month or so! Pretty exciting about really getting to know a progressive character and jumping on that project!

Wow Congratulations! When should we be in the lookout for it?
Aw thank you! And I have no idea! I haven’t even peeked at the script yet! Once I know.. I’ll let you know ;)

Thank you for taking the time to chat with us! What would your closing words be to inspire and encourage budding artists?
Be determined. Don’t let anyone tell you no… without a fight.
