Angela Butkus, Editor of SAPERE Magazine, was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and raised in Los Angeles California in a family of six. Her passion for the written word and beauty gravitated her to the artistic realm of reality where she would not only write poems herself, but would also engage with fellow artists whom she would  gain much insight from their artistic endeavors that she now carries with her through out life.

Angela has studied courses at Cal State LA and was a PR Representative for their literary magazine Statement where she learned how to fine-tune her journalistic skills. It was only a natural progression for her to then follow the path of promoting artists as she says, "I have to be around art and beauty, and I believe that those are the two things that can link the whole of humanity. I'm living proof. I married a Lithuanian musician and we come from very different worlds, but we have a very special and romantic bond that originates from our passion for the quality of life we wish to possess and the quality of art we like to produce. We all have our different philosophies, but we can become connected through art and what it has to teach us".

A love for the art community that she works with brought about the publication of SAPERE, a bi-annual print magazine that showcases the work of other artists on a submission basis. She works well in collaboration with other artists and businesses to tell their story and to shine light on the intensity of their philosophies and creative processes.

Angela's next step will be opening a full-fledged publishing company based off of SAPERE that will be for writers  and visual artists to compile their work in a cohesive and bounded entity.
